At John Leighton, every piece is handcrafted using premium natural materials and carefully inspected before it is prepared for delivery. We proudly stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship, which is why all eligible John Leighton furniture is backed by a 24-month manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use.

This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

What’s Covered:

Our manufacturer's warranty covers defects resulting from the manufacturing process, not the natural characteristics of genuine materials or normal wear through everyday use.

This warranty covers manufacturing defects in:

  • Structural integrity.
  • Materials.
  • Workmanship.
  • Hardware supplied by John Leighton.

If a manufacturing defect is confirmed within the warranty period, John Leighton may repair the product, supply replacement parts, replace the product or provide another appropriate remedy.

Warranty Period:

The warranty applies for 24 months from the date the furniture is delivered to the original purchaser.

Warranty Conditions:

  • Items must be used exclusively for residential purposes.

  • Proper care and maintenance as per our guidelines must be followed.

  • The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original buyer.

Exclusions from Coverage:

This warranty does not apply to the natural characteristics of handcrafted furniture or genuine materials. The following are considered normal and are not regarded as manufacturing defects:

  • Variations in the colour, veining, texture, density and natural markings of stone, including marble, limestone and travertine.
  • Naturally occurring holes, filled or unfilled areas, fossils and mineral features found within natural stone.
  • Variations in timber grain, knots, colour and figure, as well as the natural expansion, contraction and movement of solid timber caused by changes in temperature and humidity.
  • The natural ageing of materials, including the development of patina, subtle colour changes and surface character over time.
  • Minor variations in dimensions, edges, finish or form resulting from the handcrafted nature of each piece.
  • General wear and tear through everyday use, including light scratches, minor marks and surface ageing consistent with normal residential use.
  • Damage caused by misuse, accidents, impacts, neglect, improper installation or failure to follow the John Leighton Care Guide.
  • Damage resulting from the use of cleaning products or chemicals not recommended by John Leighton.
  • Damage caused by exposure to extreme weather, flooding, fire, pests, insects, natural disasters or environmental conditions beyond the intended use of the product.
  • Products used in commercial, hospitality or public environments unless specifically approved by John Leighton at the time of purchase.
  • Any modifications, alterations or repairs carried out by parties not authorised by John Leighton.

Natural materials are chosen for their individuality. Every piece of timber and natural stone is unique, with its own grain, veining, texture and colour variation. These characteristics are part of the beauty and authenticity of the material and should be appreciated as signs of genuine craftsmanship rather than imperfections.

Warranty Void Scenarios:

This warranty will not apply where damage or failure results from circumstances outside normal residential use or from conditions beyond John Leighton's control, including but not limited to:

  • Misuse, abuse, accidental damage, impact or neglect.
  • Failure to follow the John Leighton Care Guide or recommended maintenance instructions.
  • The use of cleaning products, chemicals or treatments not approved by John Leighton.
  • Incorrect installation, handling, transportation or storage after delivery.
  • Repairs, modifications or alterations carried out by anyone other than John Leighton or an authorised repairer.
  • Commercial, hospitality or public use unless specifically approved by John Leighton at the time of purchase.
  • Exposure to environmental conditions beyond the intended use of the product, including excessive moisture, flooding, prolonged direct sunlight, fire, salt exposure where not recommended, natural disasters or other extreme conditions.
  • Damage caused by pets, pests, insects (including termites) or vermin.
  • Normal wear and tear resulting from everyday use, including minor scratches, surface marks and the natural ageing of materials.

Each warranty claim is assessed individually to determine the cause of the issue and whether it falls within the terms of this warranty.

Making a Claim:

Should your product arrive damaged or you experience an issue covered by this warranty, please contact the John Leighton team as soon as reasonably possible.

To help us assess your claim promptly, please provide:

  • Your order number or proof of purchase.
  • A clear description of the issue.
  • Photographs showing the affected area and the overall product.
  • Any additional information that may assist with our assessment.

Once we receive your claim, our team will carefully review the information and, where required, may request further details or arrange an inspection. Every claim is assessed individually to ensure the most appropriate outcome.

Resolution Options

If your warranty claim is approved, John Leighton may, at its discretion:

  • Repair the product.
  • Supply replacement parts or components.
  • Replace the product with the same or a comparable item.
  • Provide another appropriate remedy in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

Our commitment is to resolve every warranty claim fairly, efficiently and with the level of care and service you expect from John Leighton.

Consumer Rights in Australia:

This warranty does not override consumer protections under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). If you qualify as a consumer under the ACL, the following rights apply:

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for major failures and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You also have the right to repair or replacement if the goods fail to meet acceptable quality standards and the issue is not classified as a major failure.

Even if an issue falls outside the terms of this warranty, we will always do our best to help. Where appropriate, we can recommend trusted furniture repair specialists, stonemasons or timber craftsmen to assist in restoring your piece.
